| Marcia J. CHISM Beloved Mom and Grandma, Marcia J. Chism (92) passed away peacefully July 19, 2009, at Emerald Heights, Redmond, WA, her happy home for over 15 years. Marcia Johanna Goggin was born May 15, 1917 in Milan, MO. She enjoyed a small-town, mid-western upbringing, but would later delight in traveling the world. She became a registered nurse and later received a degree in public health from Peabody College in Nashville, TN. Marcia served as an army nurse during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. It was there that she met Carl Chism, a young doctor, who would become the love of her life. Marcia and Carl were married after the war and settled in Seattle in 1950, where Carl pursued a career as a plastic surgeon. Together they raised their 3 children, David, Jeff, and Nancy. Family and church were the cornerstones of her life, while volunteering and taking classes were her favorite activities. Her willing spirit and sweet sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. Marcia was predeceased by her husband, Carl E. Chism. She is survived by her children, David, Jeff (Barbara), and Nancy, and her grandchildren Chris and Mindy Chism. In accordance with Marcia's wishes there will be a private gathering for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
