HUMPHREY, DORRIS MAE

1922 to 2009 Beloved mother, grand-mother, wife, aunt and friend,
Dorris Mae Humphrey was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on
October 5, 1922, to Percy and Elizabeth Walzer, and passed away
peacefully on July 28, 2009. Dorris moved to San Diego with her
parents and brother Bill in 1926, where she attended McKinley
Grammar School, Wilson Jr. High, graduating from Hoover High
School in 1942. Dorris is survived by six of her eight children
Michael, Barbara, Thomas, Patrick, Kathleen and Christopher. Son
Robert died in 1997, and daughter Mary Joan died in 2005. Dorris
married Thomas Blackwood in 1942, and had three children Barb,
Tom and Pat, and was widowed in 1958. She married Marion "Mike"
F. Humphrey in 1960, a widower with three children Mike, Bob and
Mary Jo. Dorris and Mike then had Kathleen and Chris. She retired
to Nazareth House in 2000. Dorris was active in the church for
many years, and was a PTA member for almost four decades. She
loved reading, gardening and travelling, and opened up her home
to many family, friends and others in need. She enjoyed her large
family and numerous friends, and hosted many parties with her
husband Mike. Dorris always shared her beautiful smile and a kind
word with those around her. She is beloved by many who will miss
her dearly. Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, August 4th, 10 a.m. at
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2766 Navajo Road, El Cajon.
