FRANK ALOYSIUS DIXON, JR.

peacefully left us on July 6, 2009 at age 80. He was born October 18, 1928 in PA.
Frank lived his life to the fullest. He was a true character, great dancer, storyteller+++,
sportsman, world traveler, and friend to many. He made new friends at any opportunity
and "really worked a room". Everyone will remember his engaging personality, his smile,
his stories and his laugh. Frank attended Taft and Choate schools in CT, and was a
1950 graduate of Brown University. Frank was a member of the Army 300th Armored
Artillery battalion in Korea and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant to return
to Chicago, IL. Frank was a lively bachelor and an accomplished sailor. In the oil
business, he moved to Oklahoma City, where he met his first wife Patricia Riley, they
moved to Houston in 1969 where he became a successful independent oil operator.
He was preceded in death by Patricia Riley Dixon, his wife of 30 years; his mother
Helen Iversen Dixon, daughter of Lorenz Iversen of Pittsburgh, PA, his father Lt.
Colonel Frank A. Dixon both of Chicago, IL, and brother John Iversen Dixon of
Pittsburgh, PA. Frank is survived by his devoted, caring and active wife of seven years,
Donna M. Dixon, who kept him young and constantly active until the end;
sister-in-laws: Margaret Dixon of Pittsburgh, PA, Sally Foy Dixon of St Paul, MN; first
cousin Antoinette Mayer Fallon, of Osterville, MA, and her three children; nephews:
Alexander Foy Dixon of St Paul, MN, John Iversen Dixon Jr. of Thurmont, MD, and
Steven Hamilton Dixon of Lee, MS, and their wives, as well as seven nieces and
nephews and their children. Frank was Godfather to Matthew C. Dixon of Fairfield, PA
and Daryl Hannah of Telluride, CO. A mass of Christian Burial will be said at half past
ten in the morning on Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140
Westheimer Road, Houston, TX, 77098. A rite of committal with military honors will take
place at nine o'clock in the morning on July 18, 2009 at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that blood donations in Frank's memory be made to St.
Luke's Episcopal Hospital or the blood bank of choice, or that donations be made to
