Harry Lee BONDS
Harry Lee Bonds, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on May 11,
2009, at home after a year long illness.
Harry was born on January 27, 1926 in Merced, California and grew up in the San
Francisco Bay Area. After graduating as the Salutatorian from Balboa High School in
1944, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific under General
MacArthur in World War II. Upon returning to San Francisco in 1947, he met his future
wife, well-known artist Corliss May Carlson, and they had 58 wonderful years together.
It is a little known fact that Harry was also a talented artist, but pursued it only as a
hobby once he had the responsibility of marriage and children.
Harry and Corliss moved to Reno in 1961, and loved the Northern Nevada desert,
often taking walks together up in the hills. Harry missed Corliss more than words can
say, and, at the end, was content that he would soon be joining her.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corliss May Carlson, in 2006, and is survived by
his two daughters, Christi Garrett of Kentucky and Vicki Wildbank of New York.
Harry is interred with Corliss at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada.
