Sutter, Wally
Wally Sutter died peacefully in his sleep last Sunday of old age and illness. He was 90
years old and preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Betty. Wally is survived by
their children Judi Brantley, Lonna Lindsay, Bill Sutter, Linda Michaelis, and Debbie
Burkett; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A Phoenix native, Wally served
in the Army's South Pacific campaigns during World War II. A long and varied career
followed, mostly as an operator and mechanic on heavy-duty construction equipment.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 428 for 56 years. He enjoyed hunting
and fishing with family and friends and, in retirement, backyard gardening and summers
in Flagstaff. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, at A.L. Moore
Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 West Bethany Home Road in Phoenix. Entombment will follow
at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery's Encanto Mausoleum. The family asks that you
donate to Hospice of the Valley rather than sending flowers. Arrangements are under
the direction of A.L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel.
