DAVID R. DEWAR

COLCHESTER - David R. Dewar, 54, of Colchester, Vt., died unexpectedly at his
home on Thursday, June 4, 2009. He was born on March 6, 1955, in Allentown, Pa.,
the son of William II and Thelma (Neidig) Dewar. Dave worked for IBM in Essex for
over 30 years as an engineer and also was coowner of the Spanked Puppy in
Colchester for the past eight years. Dave was a gentle, generous soul with extreme
intelligence. He loved playing golf, horse shoes, coordinating all sporting events and
running the pools at the Spanked Puppy. Over the years Dave and Michelle were very
committed to community support. They often donated time and money to help support
Colchester Hockey, Vermont Diabetes and ALS. Dave will be deeply missed by all who
knew him. He is survived by his parents, William II and Thelma Dewar of Pennsylvania;
his brother William III and his wife Jean Dewar of Pennsylvania; his sister Kathleen and
her husband Doug Vandenburgh of New Hampshire; eight nieces and nephews;
several cousins; his best friend and business partner, Michelle Simms; and all the
Spanked Puppy family in Colchester; and by his former wife Elizabeth Gregory and her
two children, Abigail and Greg. A celebration of life will be on Wednesday, June 17,
2009, at 3 p.m. in the Spanked Puppy in Colchester. There will be no visiting hours.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions may be made to Missions for Independence, C/O Mary Shepard, 4357
Oak Hill Rd., Williston, VT 05495. Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral Home and
Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
