William F. Higgins

passed away on June 2, 2009 at his home in Green Valley. He was born on October
26, 1924 in Chester, PA to the late William and Sophia (Clark) Higgins. He is survived
by his wife of 40 years, Ruth (Wilson) Higgins. He is also survived by three children,
Phyllis Adams, Richard Higgins and Renee Kempf and by three stepchildren, Sharon
Sylvester, Walter Cochrane, and Jaquelyn Smith. He is also survived by nine
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with another one on the way. He was a
combat veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in both W.W.II and the Korean War.
Bill retired from Sun Oil Co. in 1981 after 30 years. He started a second career teaching
adult computer courses for the Charlotte County School District in Port Charlotte, FL.
After moving to Green Valley in 2002, he worked for Wilson Software. While living in
PA, he officiated High School football, basketball and softball for the PIAA. In Green
Valley he was treasurer of the Men's Club and participated in the variety show of
Pueblo Estates. He loved traveling, golf and was an accomplished organist. Family
services were private. A Memorial Service will be held at the Pueblo Estates Club
House on Saturday, July 11, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart
Association or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
