Evelyn Dolores Draper

Resident of San Francisco Passed away June 10th, 2009, in San Francisco, at the age
of 84. Born November 5th, 1924 in Meadville, PA, Evelyn was raised in Somerville, TN,
before relocating to San Francisco at the age of 20, where she remained a resident for
the next 64 years of her life. Evelyn was best known for her unrelenting dedication to
her two daughters, and for her 40 years of recognized service; first a teacher, then an
elementary school principal, for the children of the San Francisco Unified School
District. After her retirement, she continued her service to the community as an
educator for young adults attending San Francisco Community College. She loved jazz,
blues and gospel music; tending her roses, and enjoying her garden. Evelyn was loved
by so many: for her smile, her heart and her willingness to give, always. Evelyn was
recognized for being so genuinely beautiful on the inside. Her natural disposition and
sense of humor drew many, and she was frequently acknowledged for the striking
resemblance she bared to Lena Horne. She is an angel. Evelyn was preceded in death
by her daughter, Djuanique Cyran Draper. She is survived by her daughter, Yulauncz
Jevelle Draper, of San Francisco. Services will be held in her honor on Wed, June 17
2009, at 1:00pm at Sunset View Mortuary, top of Fairmount Ave., El Cerrito. Viewing will
be held the night prior, Tuesday, June 16, 6pm to 8pm. SUNSET VIEW MORTUARY
