HALLEY, MARCILIA,

born MARCILIA MANCEBO RODRIGUEZ, died June 3, 2009 at 80 years of age in
Miami, Florida. She was born in 1929 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. She attended school
at her beloved Sagrado Corazon in Santiago de Cuba. Always a stellar student, she
studied pharmacy and worked in her chosen field in Cuba as she married and raised
her young children. Since 1952, when she and Carlito Halley were married, their loving
union has been an example and inspiration to their family and friends. After arriving in
the United States in 1962, Marcilia worked at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and other
departments of the University of Miami Medical School until her retirement. Since then,
she and Carlito have traveled and enjoyed their time with family and friends, especially
their fourteen grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Carlito, her children, Alina,
Maty (Jose Aldrich), Carlos (Maite), Ignacio (Lizette), and Maria Elena (Pablo
Hernandez), her grandchildren Alina, Monica, Julio and Javier Legañoa, Victor, Nic and
Andrew Aldrich, Gaby Halley, Daniel (Veronica), Michael, Alejandro and Angela Halley
and Sofia and Juancarlos Hernandez, as well as her sisters Adela Torres de Navarra
and Gladys Paradelo and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her life has been
one of devotion to faith and family. Visitation will be at Caballero Rivero Funeral Home,
8200 Bird Road on Thursday, June 4th from 6-10pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be
held at Church of the Epiphany on Friday at 11a.m. with the internment to follow at Our
Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
