Wentling, Cathryn L. (Epler),

81, born June 17, 1927 in K.C. Missouri, to Charles Alexander and Golda Melissa Epler
(Radford), died June 5, 2009 and is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Epler,
Jr. and Robert Epler, and sister, Isabelle Batterson (Epler). She is survived by her
husband of 63 years, Ralph A. Wentling; son, Wayne A. Wentling, his wife Connie
Dutton and their children, Ian and Tasha Wentling; and by her daughter, Janet L.
Friend- Wentling and sons, Drew and Travis Friend. Cathryn moved to Wichita at an
early age and met Ralph at Zongker's Drugstore, where she worked. They married on
September 8, 1945. Ralph ran a small construction company. She later worked at
Woolworth's on Douglas in Wichita. After the birth of her son, she was employed by
Fox-Vliet Drug Company until the birth of her daughter, when she became a full time
mother. She enjoyed music and for years was artistically involved in ceramics. When
her children entered high school, she worked part-time at Sonic Drive Ins. On the
arrival of her first grandson, she was easily persuaded to quit her job and take on what
she described as "the best job in the world"-taking care of her grandchildren. Her
health failed on numerous fronts over the last 7 months. Visitation with the family will be
held from 6-8 p.m Tuesday at Broadway Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, at Broadway Mortuary. A memorial has been established with Wichita
Children's Home, 810 N. Holyoke, Wichita, Kansas 67208. Send condolences at
www.Cozine Memorial.com. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
