| Dad went home to be with his Lord on May 18, 2009 after fighting a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Lancaster, PA., April 30, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida (Zug) and John Mease, brothers Ken and James Mease, and wife Kathy (Powell). He is survived by his two brothers, Richard and Lester Mease (Lancaster, PA), his daughters Cheryl Chandler (Mike), Karen Hertzog (engaged to Jack Quinn), Donna Tikker (Paul), all living in Spokane, and Diana Warren (Sam) from Seattle. He has five granddaughters and three grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way, nine boys and two girls. |
| He served during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic and was Honorably Discharged after four years of service. After his service, he completed the Police Academy in Pennsylvania and worked as a police officer for 12 years. In 1968 he moved his family to Spokane and worked as a plumber with his uncle and then as a security officer at Rosauer's. In 1972 he was hired as a security officer at Spokane International Airport and retired from there in 1992 as a sergeant. In 1983 he became manager of SmartCarte at the airport. During his retirement he worked part-time for the U.S. Marshall's Service transporting prisoners between facilities, Shriner's Hospital and continued with SmartCarte. |
| He had lots of hobbies including buying and selling guns, hunting and fishing, motorcycles (especially Harleys), camping, 4-wheeling, bowling and softball, just to name a few. He loved playing golf with a group of buddies called the "Lofters". He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He always had a smile and a joke. He will be greatly missed by all. |
| Join us for a Celebration of Life, Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish, Spokane Valley, WA. There will be a potluck and gathering of family and friends following the Celebration at the VFW, Post 1435, 212 S. David. Directions will be provided at the church. |
