| Helen Carmichael, 89, passed away on April 20, 2009, with her children at her side. She was born in Nevada, Missouri, on November 7, 1919, daughter of Charles and Mamie Haddock. Her family moved to San Diego in 1931 where she would spend the rest of her life. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Hoover High School. She married the love of her life, John, in 1939. They raised four children together and remained married for 68 years until the passing of John in 2008. Helen worked as a bookkeeper at St. Augustine High School and the Del Mar Turf Club. She loved her church and was a very dedicated and involved member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 60 years. Helen was socially active and enjoyed being a member of the Women's Club, her camping group, Los Amigos, and especially the Regina Coeli Club. She leaves behind her sons, Gary (Paula) and Steve (Bobbi), and daughter Christine (Bob); four grandchildren, Russ, Richard, Heather and Scott; and three great-grand-children, Joshua, Adam and Zoe. Her daughter, Sharon, predeceased her. She also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Ellen Myers and Anna Lee Brose. She was greatly loved by her family and everyone who knew her. She will forever be missed. A Memorial Mass will be held at Nazareth House, 6333 Rancho Mission Road, San Diego, at 2:30 p.m., on Monday, May 11th. |
