| John attended Savannah High School in Missouri before enlisting in the Army in 1944. He was a sergeant in WWII from 1944-1946. |
| John married Linda L. Harnden in Seattle, WA on July 3, 1959. |
| John was a member of IUOE 302 for 55 years. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and the Puget Sound Quarter Horse Association. He participated in Western Gaming and cow penning at Hollywood Hills, Bits & Spurs and Stanwood and Evergreen State Fairgrounds. He enjoyed being a Mall Walker of Alderwood Mall, resident of Merrill Gardens, reading western books and outdoor activities. |
| John is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Dena (Bill) Votaw, Genevieve (Bill) Work and Brooke (Larry) Argento; sisters, Mary Jo Gould and Betty Lee Wigington; and seven grandchildren, Karly, Richard, Carolyn, Annie, Regina, Jesse and Rachel. |
| A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 6, 2009, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood. |
