| Mary T. NECE Mary Teresa Nece passed away peacefully at Northwest Hospital on March 29, 2009. She is predeceased by daughter Edith Marie Stommel and sister Dolores Morgan. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Ron, son John 'Gary' Nece (Jody Rosentswieg), grandsons Dan, Tim and Nick, granddaughter Lucy, great grandson Aaron, daughter-in-law Robin Nece, sister Stella Marie Moore, and nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and the Carolinas. She was born on July 20, 1926, in Bethlehem, PA to Gerhard and Stella Evrard. She was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School. She and Ron were married in Bethlehem in 1951. Before they moved west to Seattle in 1959 she worked for Sears Roebuck and Raytheon in Massachusetts, earning her informal 'PHT' (Putting Husband Through) while her husband was starting on an academic career. Although she lived most of her life in Seattle she retained and prized her Pennsylvania roots. She was a member and Past President of Lake City Emblem Club No. 189, where she forged many lasting friendships while working in the club's charitable activities. She had also been active in the ASCE Auxiliary, then a wives group which supported civil engineering student activities at the University of Washington. Mary had a good, quick sense of humor along with a direct manner of speaking, and the gift of making friends wherever she went. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and pottery, as well as travel by automobile and, later in life, by cruise ship. She enjoyed the family cabin on Hood Canal as a gathering place for friends and family, including the traditional overnight on New Year's Eve. But, most of all, 'Grammy' enjoyed her grandchildren. A memorial service followed by an informal reception will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 10, at the Lake City Elks Lodge No. 1800, 14540 Bothell Way N.E., Lake Forest Park, WA 98155. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Lake City Emblem Club No. 189 Scholarship Fund (at the above address) or to the donor's charity of choice.
