Badran, Peggy D.

Peggy D. Badran Born 11/5/52 in San Francisco,
passed away at home on March 19, 2010. In 1977
Peggy moved to Maine and returned to the Bay Area in
2005 to be close to her aging mother. While Peggy
always seemed like a shy and quiet person, she had
tremendous inner strength which she used to help
others both personally and professionally. She had
varied interests, from scrap-booking to kayaking, and
deeply loved animals and music. She played the piano,
violin, and percussion instruments, most recently with
the North Peninsula Wind and Percussion Ensemble.
She was a life-long social worker, devoted to helping
those who were vulnerable, initially with children, and
then for many years at a shelter for battered women.
After surviving breast cancer in 1996, she began
working with children coping with terminal illnesses,
bringing the strength of her own experience to the
children and their families. Since her return to the Bay
Area, she worked as a Hospice social worker. When
she was diagnosed with cancer again in 2008 she
continued to work while undergoing chemotherapy,
showing her tremendous compassion and desire to
bring grace and dignity to others who were dying.
Everyone who knew Peggy was familiar with both her
vibrant smile and her kindness. Peggy is predeceased
by her mother Ruth in January 2010, sister Jean in
December 2008, and father Phillip in 1973. She will be
greatly missed by her partner Lana Scott, sister Carol
Badran, niece Lecia Badran-Doane, extended family
and numerous friends. Donations may be made in her
memory to Hope Hospice, 6377 Clark Ave., Dublin, CA
