Baar, Todd Jason

It is said that life is not measured by its length but 
rather by its depth. Todd Jason Baar died Friday, April 
9, 2010, after only 28 brief years on this earth. 
However, in his short time here he lived a life of depth 
that is well-known to all who had the privilege of 
knowing him.

Todd was born in Bozeman on June 5, 1981. He spent 
his childhood years exploring the fields and hillsides 
of the Gallatin Valley. He graduated from high school 
in 1999 and began working in Bozeman with various 
construction companies. In 2000 Todd started his own 
business, T. Baar Construction. He used his talented 
hands to build many beautiful homes in the Bozeman 
area.

In 2003 Todd met the love of his life, Erin Waldum. It 
was quickly apparent to all who knew them that this 
was a love to last. The two were married in 2004 and 
were rarely apart. Todd and Erin lived a life in which 
they worked hard and played hard. They ran the 
company together and spent their weekends living 
adventurously by jet skiing, cliff jumping, camping and 
spending time with the people they loved.

In 2005 a new adventure arrived in their lives in the 
form of Hannah Jane and two years later they 
welcomed Gavin Anton Cecil to the family. Even with a 
busy life involving running a company and caring for 
two small children, their home was always open to 
their many friends, and Todd was always the first to 
offer assistance to anyone in need.

In May 2009 Todd was diagnosed with malignant, 
metastatic colon cancer. Throughout his entire illness 
he remained optimistic and determined not to 
succumb to cancer. He consistently proclaimed his 
belief that his Lord, in whom his faith never wavered, 
had a plan for his life. The faith both Todd and Erin 
consistently displayed was, and continues to be, a 
testimony to all who walked this journey with them. 
The widespread grief felt by his passing clearly 
illustrates the depth of life he lived and the impact he 
had upon all who knew him. His family and friends 
know that, though all too short, his was a life well 
lived.

Todd is survived by his wife, Erin, daughter, Hannah, 
and son, Gavin; parents, Ron and Nell Baar; brother, 
Travis (Keri) Baar and their son, Tangar; sisters, Tara 
(Jeremy) Hill and their children, Evangeline and 
Jeremiah, Lai-yan Baar, and Milaina Baar; as well as a 
large extended family and many friends.

Todd's family and friends will be celebrating his life at 
noon Saturday, April 24, at Heritage Christian School, 
4310 Durston Road, Bozeman.
