Cederborg, Cyril Joseph
Wasilla resident Cyril Joseph "C.J." or "Cy" Cederborg, 80,
died April 19, 2010, at Kaiser Hospital in Moreno Valley, Calif.
Date for interment at Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira,
N.Y., with full military honors, is yet to be determined.
Mr. Cederborg was born July 18, 1929, in Siservill, Pa., to Paul
F. and Ruth (Heckman) Cederborg.
He came to Fort Richardson in 1968 when he was stationed
there by the U.S. Army as a demolitions expert with the
Explosives Ordnance Division. He retired in 1971 as a master
sergeant. After retirement, he was employed by the Alaska
State Troopers as a demolitions specialist and investigator.
After his retirement from the state in 1981, he worked as a
licensed private investigator, auto accident reconstructionist
and taught driver's education.
In retirement, he stayed busy with remodeling projects and
fixing things. He especially enjoyed traveling and loved
Hawaii, Australia and Europe and traveling in his motor home
across Canada and the U.S.
Mr. Cederborg was a life member of the Fraternal Order of
the Alaska State Troopers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the
American Legion, and Good Sam Club.
His family wrote: "He was a genuinely good man and father.
He will be remembered for his energy, enthusiasm,
generosity, sense of humor and story telling -- and he had a
lot of great stories to tell. He will also be remembered for
his sound barrier-shattering laugh and love of banana splits."
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Cederborg and her
partner, Kathy Kay, of Moreno Valley, Calif; daughter and
son-in-law, Janet and Volker Cocco of Troutdale, Ore.; son
and daughter-in-law, C. Hall "Skip" and Cheryl Jones; and
granddaughter, Samantha, all of Polk City, Fla.; sister and
brother-in-law, Pat and Earl Hill of Endicott, N.Y.; sister and
brother-in-law, Margaret and Frank Scalzo of Endciott, N.Y.;
numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. Cederborg was preceded in death by his brother and
sister-in-law, Paul F. Jr. and Anne Cederborg, who had lived
in Endicott.
