Cole, Rodney Glen Rodney Glen Cole, "Rod" was 88 when he died, April 22, 2010 of natural causes. His parents were Harvey Cole and Mary Cole. He was the third of their four sons. He grew up in San Diego. He attended Hoover High School where he held the pole vaulting record for 10 years. He was named the athlete of the decade. During World War II, he served with the Army Signal Corp in the South Pacific. He married his wife, El Dora Worden Cole in 1947. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. In 1957, with their children Glenna and Chris, they moved to Lakeside, CA, where Rodney built their house. Following his retirement, he was able to develop his wood working skills, producing many beautiful busts of American Indians. He was often awarded Best of Show ribbons. As his children were growing up they all enjoyed camping. Rod loved to hike and took his children on many hikes in the Sierras. Recently, he and El Dora enjoyed many cruises to the Panama Canal, Hawaii, etc. He is survived by daughter, Glenna Cole Evans and son Chris Rodney Cole (Sylvia), grandchildren Chad Evans, Dana Evans, Carlos and Ryan Cole, brother Lane Cole and numerous nieces and nephews. His sense of humor, love of life, and easy going nature will be missed by all. A Celebration of his life will be Sunday, April 25th, from 1:00-5:00 at the Cole family home.
