| Martha Ann Brown 12/15/1926 01/21/2009 A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 575 E. College Street, Mount Angel, for Martha Ann Brown who passed away on Jan. 21, 2009, at age 82. Martha Ann Brown was born on Dec. 15, 1926, in St. Joseph, Mo., the youngest of seven children, where she spent the first 20 years of her life. She moved to Portland and worked as a stewardesss for Northwest Orient Airlines. She married Fredrick Rush Brown, Jr. in 1949. Mr. Brown passed away in 1970. Between 1950 and 1980, she moved to southwest Portland and raised five children. She worked at Pacific NW Bell in the art department for 30 years, retiring in 1986. In 1988, Martha moved to the Woodburn Senior Estates where she participated in community events and volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce and the Woodburn Senior Services Center. She was a member of the Altar Society and the Garden Club. Martha Ann Brown is survived by her brother, John Westpheling of St. Louis, Mo.; son, Col. James Timothy Brown stationed in Germany; daughters, Nancy Packard of Portland, Mary Dobie of Corvallis, and Molly Jaber of Beaverton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Brown, who passed away in 1983. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society and arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel in Mount Angel.
