Nabor, Elvira Gonzalez

Elvira Gonzalez Nabor entered the kingdom of her Lord
and Savior on Friday morning, March 26, 2010, just at the
moment of a glorious springtime Arizona sunrise, and with
her family at her side. Vera was born on March 16, 1925, in
Jerome, Arizona to the late Praxedes and Librada Ybarra
Gonzalez. Her early years provided few rewarding
educational opportunities. Much later in life, she chose to
pursue her Associates Degree, which she achieved with a
perfect 4.0 average. On October 29, 1946, she married
Eusebio Lopez Nabor, who preceded her in death in 1992.
They were parents to three children, all of whom survive.
They are daughter and son-in-law, Antonia and Bernie
Chamberlain of Phoenix, son and daughter-in-law, Thomas
and Bonnie Nabor of Phoenix, and daughter and son-in-law
Sylvia and Phil Adessa of Appleton, WI. Vera is further
survived by her sister Isabel, ten grandchildren, and sixteen
great-grandchildren. Others who survive include God-
children, and nieces and nephews far too numerous to
mention. For years, she and her late husband were part-time
parents to many of them, especially to nieces Rita Marconi
and Celia Patrick. Elvira was also preceded in death by her
siblings, Rafaela, Alfredo, Guadalupe, and Herlinda. Vera
was a woman with an enormous zest for life. Her passions
were her God, her family, Blessed Sacrament Choir, travel,
needlework, music, reading, and her garden. The Suns,
Cardinals, Diamondbacks and the Olympics follow on her
list of favorite interests. Visitation will be Monday evening
from 5 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm, at Hansen Mortuaries
at 6500 East Bell Rd in Scottsdale. Her funeral will take
place at 12:30 pm on Tuesday at The Catholic Community
of the Blessed Sacrament 11300 N. 64th St., Scottsdale,
Arizona. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery
at 99th Avenue and W. Thomas St. Phoenix.
