Cecconi, Doris R. Doris Rita Gamenara Cecconi passed away peacefully on the evening of September 9, 2011. She was born in San Lorenzo, California, on October 9, 1923, and graduated from Hayward High in 1941. At a Ligure Club picnic she met her husband, the late Albertino Cecconi, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage as long-time residents of Alameda. She is survived by her three children, Susan Jacoli (Gian Guido) of Alameda, John Cecconi (Nancy) of Piedmont, and Rick Cecconi (Sherry) of Lafayette. Doris was the adored "Nonnie" to Gian Luca Jacoli, John, Jr., Anne Marie and Cristina Cecconi, and Paul Cecconi. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends both here and in Italy will miss her dearly. Doris was an active volunteer for two generations at St. Joseph Elementary School in Alameda. She was passionate about cooking traditional Italian meals for her family. With her beloved "Tino", they catered many Italian weddings and special events over the years. She loved gardening and enjoyed annual trips to Italy, especially to Varazze on the Ligurian coast, often accompanied by her children and grandchildren. Doris' family is very grateful to the dedicated caregivers who have been with her for the past 11 years. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14th, from 5 to 6 p.m. at The Cathedral of Christ the Light, 2100 Harrison St, Oakland, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. and Funeral Mass at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to The Cathedral of Christ the Light.
