| Clayville, Holly A. Holly Abbott Clayville 1964 - 2011 Holly Abbott Clayville, a devoted mother, elementary school volunteer and former airline loyalty program executive, died September 9 in Palo Alto of cancer. She was 46. Born in 1964 in Berkeley, Calif., Holly attended Prospect High School in Saratoga, Calif. In 1987 she earned a bachelor's degree in finance and marketing from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Holly then entered GTE Corp.'s 18-month manager training program in Dallas. Honing her skills in competitive marketing, sales and corporate marketing, she landed a full-time job at GTE after completing the program. In 1990 Holly married Mike Clayville, whom she had met after moving to Dallas in 1987. The next year she decided to pursue full-time her master's degree in business administration at the University of Texas at Austin. Upon completion of her MBA, Holly was hired in 1993 by American Airlines' yield management division as a senior marketing associate and later by its loyalty program group as a frequent flier program manager. In 1995 she and Mike moved to Sydney, Australia, which Holly had chosen as their home base while Mike ran Asia-Pacific sales for a Boston-based software company. Upon their arrival there, Holly was recruited by Quantas Airlines to run its first-ever credit card loyalty program, a program she helped to develop and launch. Holly negotiated airline loyalty programs all over the world including Europe, Asia and South America. In 1999 son Benjamin Daniel was born in Sydney and Holly retired from Quantas, devoting her time to being a mother. After a brief time in Boston, the Clayvilles moved to Silicon Valley, settling in Los Gatos to be near Holly's mother. Son Jack David was born in 2000 and daughter Megan Helen was born in 2002. Holly volunteered in the children's preschool and at Louise Van Meter Elementary School, where she was a room parent in all three children's classes and twice chaired the school's walk-a-thon fundraiser. She monthly taught Sunday school at Los Gatos Presbyterian Church. Holly thoroughly enjoyed each and every day spent with her family: skiing at Lake Tahoe, participating in family team triathlons, traveling, gardening, reading to her children as well as watching them at soccer games, swim meets, triathlons, track meets and playing at the Clayville family cattle ranch in Idaho. Holly is survived by her mother Susan Abbott of Los Gatos; father Keith Abbott of Niceville, Fla.; husband Mike Clayville of Los Gatos; children Ben, Jack and Megan Clayville of Los Gatos; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Zenda Abbott of Niceville, Fla.; and brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Michelle Abbott of Santa Monica, Calif. The family is holding a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at Los Gatos Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to two important cancer causes: St. Baldrick's Foundation and Stanford Cancer Institute.
