Allen, Everett Jr.

Everett Allen Jr. Sept 1934 - Aug 2011 Everett was born on the
Binford Ranch in Denair. He died at his home in Turlock after a
courageous three-year battle with ALS. He will be remembered as
a loving husband, father, grandpa, and brother. Everett was the
first of four children born to Everett Sr. and Beulah Allen.
Everett graduated from Denair schools and Modesto Junior
College. After college he went into banking and was transferred
to Merced, San Luis Obispo, and Delano before returning to
Turlock as manager of Security State Bank in Ceres. In 1956 he
married Kay Wejmar and they had four children. In 1964 he joined
his father and brother at Turlock Hardware, which later became
Allen's Home Furnishings. In 1984 he left the family business
and went into real estate until his diagnosis with Lou Gehrig's
Disease in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay;
his children Laura (Bob) Walters of Turlock, David Allen of
Sonoma, Lisa (Bruce) Doerksen of Denair, and Kara Allen of
Denair; his four grandchildren Ryan (Jen) Doerksen of Turlock,
Chris Doerksen of Modesto, Shelby and Shaun Walters of Turlock;
his brother E.L. "Duck" (Carol) Allen and his sister Lanita
(Bob) Moen, both of Turlock; sister-in-law and brother-in-law
Phyllis & Harry Johnson of Santa Cruz, and brother-in-law and
sister-in-law Bruce and Jean Wejmar of Turlock; many cousins,
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and
brother Gene Allen. Everett was a wonderful family man with a
winning smile and a great sense of humor - even in his last days
he was joking with his hospice nurses. His passion was golf and
his family. Prior to his illness, Everett spent many years
singing in church as a soloist, in men's quartets and with the
choir. He loved to take his RV camping with family and friends
with their destination usually being the Santa Cruz coast. In
his younger years he spent his free time boating or happily
riding his motorcycle with close friends. He was a member of
Crossroads Church and SIR (Sons in Retirement). The family would
like to thank Hospice of Emanuel nurses for the loving care they
showed Everett throughout his illness. We treasure the memories
of his loving example of loyalty and devotion to his family and
friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011
from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Allen Mortuary. A Celebration of life
will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at
Crossroads Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
