Latshaw, Donald E.

DOVER Donald E. Latshaw, 72, went home to be with the Lord at
9:35 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011, at his home. He was the
loving husband of Trudy A. (Rentzel) Latshaw. The couple
celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on August 27, 2010. He
was born June 28, 1939, in York, a son of the late Carl M. and
Hazel F. (Diller) Latshaw. Donald was a 1957 graduate of Dover
High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving
as a radar technician in a fighter squadron aboard the U.S.S.
Ticonderoga. Donald retired following 28 years of service for
FINCOR Division of INCOM International, where he was a
manufacturing engineer. He previously was employed by GTE, BMY,
and the Naval Ordnance Plant. Most recently, Donald worked
part-time as a seafood prep cook for the Shiloh American Legion
Post 791, where he was also a member and served three terms as
Post Commander. Donald also served as District Deputy Commander
for the 22nd District and a term as an Aide to the Department
Commander. He was a charter member of Dover Area Jaycees, a
member of West York VFW Post 8951, Chambersburg Moose, and
Chambersburg AMVETS, and a life member of Rooster Club in York.
Donald also enjoyed golfing. In addition to his wife, Donald is
survived by three children, Lauren A. Barb of New Bern, N.C.,
Michael E. Latshaw of York, and Scott A. Latshaw and wife, Debra
of Dover; three grandsons, Joshua Latshaw and wife, Meghan of
York, Jedadiah Latshaw of Dover, and Jared Latshaw and wife,
Heather of York; a brother, Terry L. Latshaw and wife, Karen of
Dover; a sister, Carolyn R. Leming and husband, Jim of Dover;
his mother-in-law, Betty M. Rentzel of Gardners; and nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Seth and
Corey Pott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to
attend Donald's funeral at 10 a.m. and the viewing from 9 to 10
a.m. on Friday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery in Dover, where
veteran's honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor
Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. John M. Harman, visitation
pastor of Friendship Community Church. Memorial contributions
