Dolores Mae Clark, 81, passed away peacefully at home April
13, 2011, while surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dolores, affectionately known as Grams, was born July 17,
1929 in Fontana, Calif. to Robert and Caroline Hitchman.
She will be remembered as a loving soul with a huge heart
and will be greatly missed by many. Dolores spent her
childhood in California, where she met and married a young
serviceman after World War II. Together they had four
children; Donald, Dorleene, Dianna and Dennis La Sage. She
loved working at Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral
during the early years of the Space Shuttle Program as a
computer operator. Later, her adventurous spirit brought
her to Alaska. Upon arriving in Fairbanks, she began
working at Fairbanks Municipal Utilities System (MUS) as a
computer operator. She also served as an union shop steward
for more than 20 years. She retired in 1999 and devoted her
life to her many family members, her friends and her
beloved Zion Lutheran Church. She also volunteered
countless hours driving for Love, Inc. She loved Christmas,
playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and, most of all,
fast cars. Her bedroom walls were covered with a collage of
family photos. Her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were her
world. She will always be our guardian angel. Services will
be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Davis Road at 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday, July 5. A graveside service will follow at 1:30
p.m. at Northern Lights Cemetery on Yak Road. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made in her name to Zion Lutheran
Church.
