c 67 12/05/1942 09/09/2010 Patty Dwyer Bingham died peacefully Sept. 9, 2010, at her son's Portland home. After spending most of her life in Portland, she enjoyed recent years traveling between homes in Gearhart and Indian Wells, Calif. She was born Patricia Dwyer in Portland Dec. 5, 1942. At that time, her father, Robert F. Dwyer, ran logging operations for the family owned Dwyer Lumber Co. near Estacada. She lived her early years in Eagle Creek before her family moved to Laurelhurst in 1945 and then later to their Milwaukie home on Waverly Drive in 1953. She attended St. Mary's Academy, Marymount College in Virginia, and University of Portland. She was an avid golfer. After college she excelled at local tournaments and was a semifinalist at the U.S. Women's Amateur. She was a member of Junior League and The Town Club. In 1966 she married Clark Bingham and together raised their family in Southwest Portland. They were members of Waverley Country Club and Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells. In the late 1970s she was selected to be a member of the USGA Women's Committee and traveled frequently as a rules official for national golf tournaments such as the U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Women's Amateur, and the Curtis Cup. In 1990 she became a member of the Women's TRANS National Golf Association and held leadership positions including two terms as President. After her divorce in 1986, she fell in love with Dr. Frederick William Vranizan and was betrothed to him until his untimely death in 1995. She is survived by her son, Kurt Bingham; daughter, Carolyn Bingham Reverman; son, Collier Bingham; grandchildren, Grant and Quinlan Bingham and Jacob and Jordyn Reverman; brother, Robert F. Dwyer Jr.; and sister, Susanne Dwyer. She was preceded in death by her son, Clark Cameron Bingham; fianc#, William Vranizan; and her parents, Robert F. and Aileen Kelly Dwyer. A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Published in The Oregonian on September 15, 2010
