Monson, Barbara Jeanne Sept. 12, 1943 ~ Sept. 4, 2010 Together Again After a lengthy and valiant battle with health complications our beloved and devoted mother Barbara Jeanne Monson was released from her earthly bonds to rejoin her family members who preceded her into Gods loving arms on Saturday September 4, 2010. Barbara was born to Harold and Lucille Arnold on September 12, 1943 in Tacoma, WA. She lived her early childhood on a farm in Olympia WA. Her family eventually moved to Seattle where Barbara met and married John Monson. Together they built a life for themselves and raised four beautiful daughters. Barbara was a loving and caring homemaker who had many creative talents such as cooking, making dolls, Christmas wreaths and sewing clothes for her grandchildren. She also loved music and was a self taught guitarist & harmonica player. They raced their 51 Chevy better known as "Big John the Sanitizer" at SIR where she became the first woman in the state of Washington to receive a drag racing License. Barbara enjoyed summer vacations in the San Juan islands with her family. She also loved salmon fishing with her husband aboard their boat the "Sweet Six". Our mother was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend to all those who had the privilege to know and love her. She was a very spiritual, compassionate and generous woman who loved her family with great devotion. She was always wise with her words of wisdom and always gave her emotional support to those who were in need. She will be greatly missed by all those lives she has so graciously touched. Barbara is survived by her daughters and their spouses Cynthia & Dale Hanke, Cheri Monson, Charmane & Peter Buck & Connie Monson. Her Grandchildren Lynsey & (Rick), Nichole, Deven and Taylor and great grandchild Jelena.
