Zetterberg, Glenn Everett Glenn Everett Zetterberg November 17, 1920 - August 31, 2010 SALEM - Glenn Everett Zetterberg, age 89, passed away at home on August 31, 2010. Glenn was born in Hullt, Oregon on November 17, 1920. Glenn was one of twelve children of Jessie Eva and John William Zetterberg. He lived in Silverton until he entered the Army in 1942 and served until 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was proud to serve in the 89th Infantry Division and to say he served in Patton's Army. After returning home, he married Patricia Johnston on November 17, 1946. They made their home in Salem. Soon, their three children were born, Pamela, Susan and Glenn Craig. Glenn worked at McKay Chevrolet as a mechanic and later joined Home Fuel Oil Company. In 1964, he joined Salem Sanitary Service as a Teamster and worked until he retired in 1984. His wife of thirty years, Patricia, preceded him in death in May of 1986. Glenn met Ruby Drennen, a neighbor, and in August of 1987, they married. Glenn and Ruby had just celebrated their twenty third wedding anniversary and loved to dance while they watched Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his brother, Sydney; wife, Ruby; his children, Pamela (Janvier) Langnese, of LaCenter, Wash.; Susan (David) Tipton, of Deerfield, Ill.; Glenn Craig (Julie) Zetterberg, of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Heather and Margaret Langnese, Bjorn and Madyson Zetterberg and Marcy (Daniel) Tipsword; great-grandchildren, Kaitlan Berg and Ricky Tipsword; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service has been held. Glenn will be remembered for his sense of humor, devotion to family and friends and his desire to help those in need. He passed on a love of sports, corny jokes and positive outlook to his children. He will be greatly missed. Published in StatesmanJournal on September 10, 2010
