Challenger, Terry Joseph Terry Joseph Challenger was born November 30, 1946 in Rochester, New York and joined God and his siblings, Jackie and Jimmy, by ascending to the heavens on August 29, 2010. Terry passed away after succumbing to cancer and complications of surgery. Terry is survived by his mother, Caroline; his wife, Barbara; his sons, Charles, Allan and Michael; his nephew, Chuck; daughter, Alicia; cousin, Marie Elena and grandson, Collin. Terry was also a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving as a machine gunner in the Airborne, 173rd "The Herd" Brigade from 1965 – 1968. Pop, as we boys called him, did not always conform to the Army way. He often joked about making Sergeant twice and PFC three times, but he was always proud about volunteering for service when his brother, Jimmy, was drafted. Terry touched a lot of lives, defended the nation he loved, and devoted himself to his friends and family. Most of all, Pop lived life to its fullest and to an extent that most can only dream of. The Greek tragedian, Aeschylus, said that, "Only when man's life comes to its end in prosperity can one call that man happy." Pop truly epitomized prosperity, perhaps not in finance or worldly accomplishments, but for the friends and family that he leaves behind. We are the evidence of a truly proud and happy man. When you read this, please raise your glasses and have one more, before Pop really has to go. A Memorial Service for Terry will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) #2, 3455 S. Wilmot Rd., at 1:00 p.m. (1300 hours). Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
