Chaffee, Helen B.

Nov. 23, 1927 - Feb. 21, 2010

Born in Los Angeles, CA to Halbert and Imogene Boner,
she attended Los Angeles High School and the University
of Nevada, Reno, where she was a member of the Kappa
Alpha Theta sorority, and met her husband of 62 years,
Owen. They resided for more than twenty years in Vallejo
and Napa, CA before moving to Alexandria, VA where
Owen served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Robert L.
Leggett in Washington DC and Helen volunteered for
eighteen years at the Alexandria Hospital in Virginia. Our
beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-
grandmother, and friend passed away at home in Elk
Grove, CA from complications with Parkinson's disease,
surrounded by family. Helen is survived by her husband
Owen; daughters, Carole and Christine; sons, Miles and
David; brother Bill; grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Lisa,
Matthew, and Megan; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Cristian,
Brianna, and Ryan. She dedicated her life to loving and
nurturing others. Helen always had a smile for everyone.
A lover of words, mystery books, gardening, cooking,
western movies, and crossword puzzles, but she truly
loved nothing more than being around her family. Her
warmth, strength and guidance will be greatly missed. In
lieu of flowers, please honor Helen, a breast cancer
survivor for over 40 years, by making a donation in her
name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at
http:// ww5.komen.org/ or to Mercy Hospice at: The
Sacramento Hospice Consortium, 2800 L Street, Suite 400,
Sacramento, CA 95816. A memorial service will be held in
her honor at 2:00pm Saturday, March 27 at Fremont
Presbyterian Church, 5770 Carlson Dr., Sacramento, CA
95819.
